The Turkey Hill Experience in Columbia, PA (in beautiful Lancaster County) is a hands-on, interactive museum from the makers of one of America’s favorite brands of ice cream. Families can discover what goes into making dairy products, learn the history of the company, and even make their own ice cream! There are so many ways to have family fun at the Turkey Hill Experience!
There are tons of fun exhibits and you really need at least 60-90 minutes to see everything. It is completely self-guided, so you can wander around and enjoy everything at your own pace.
Family Fun at the Turkey Hill Experience
There are so many exhibits that I couldn’t possible tell you about them all. The museum was very busy the day we visited and we didn’t even get to see everything. But here are some highlights for you.
Please note that I received free admission to the Turkey Hill Experience in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.
Visitors to the Turkey Hill Experience can taste a wide variety of ice cream flavors and maybe even find a new favorite. But Turkey Hill makes more than just ice cream. They are also known for their awesome teas and lemonades. The Tea Room has tons of beverage samples for you to try. And the best part is that you can taste as many samples of ice cream and drinks as you would like!
Learning Games and Interactive Kiosks
The Turkey Hill Experience is filled with hands-on exhibits that are both fun and educational. You can learn what is involved in quality control, create virtual ice cream flavors, play a measuring game, and more. Young children, older children, and even adults will have fun.
One of our favorite exhibits was “The Right Mix,” where you have to guess what goes into some of your favorite Turkey Hill ice cream flavors. It’s not as easy as you would think!
The Taste Lab was absolutely the best part of our visit to the Turkey Hill Experience. You are given a pint of vanilla ice cream to start. Then you get to add flavoring, toppings, and syrup however you want to create your own unique flavor.
Some Things to Keep in Mind
- The Taste Lab is a separate admission and reservations are required.
- The lab is not allergen free.
- You walk out of the Taste Lab with your pint of ice cream. If you don’t plan on eating it immediately, be sure to bring a cooler with lots of ice for your trip home.
